Wandoo Finance Group (Group) operates in the FinTech space and strives to change the landscape of personal lending and neo banking through combining our diverse knowledge in marketing, sales, operations, finance, risk and IT. We are present in Poland, Spain and Romania with Head Office in Riga, Latvia. Given our ambitions for growth, we now are in the process of adding several new markets to our portfolio. In that respect, Group is strengthening professional capacity of the Group’s finance team and looking for a Junior Accountant based at Head Office in Riga, Latvia.

Role Description

Junior Accountant is a professional who is comfortable with numbers, able to perform a range of bookkeeping tasks, such as posting journal entries, preparing accounting documents, as well as maintaining receivables/ payables ledgers. You would be working directly with Group Chief Accountant and be responsible for a range of accounting-related topics of the Group’s parent company.

The role requires you to know the basic rules of accounting, be well organized and attentive to details. You should be able to multi-task and have strong organizational skills.

Your role would include the following responsibilities:

  • Assist Group Chief Accountant in day-to-day activities.
  • Check, prepare and process accounting documents.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Prepare statistical reports.
  • Perform reconciliations with intra-group and external partners.
  • Take part in periodic (monthly, quarterly and yearly) closing procedures. 
  • Communicate with accountants within the Group to assist in resolving a range of accounting matters.
  • Assist with other ad hoc accounting projects.

Skills and experience that will help you to succeed:

  • Higher education in Accounting or Finance or a last year student within this area.
  • At least 1-year relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel.
  • Fluent in Latvian and proficiency in written and spoken Business English.
  • Ability to establish and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. Willingness to work in an international organization. 
  • Aspiration for professional and personal growth through taking full ownership for the tasks assigned.

The following would be considered advantageous to you:

  • Professional experience in consumer lending, FinTech or banking companies, or audit role of such companies.
  • Understanding of financial and key performance metrics within consumer lending or banking industry.
  • Experience in working with cross-border consolidated groups.
